Fat grafting or fat transfer is the harvesting of one’s own fat from different parts of the body with meticulous extraction methods and then reimplanting the cells where it is needed – to the lips, the nasolabials (mouth to nose folds), under the eyes, in the cheeks, chin, temples, etc.  The duration of results from the fat injections varies from patient to patient. Fat injections are considered to be more permanent than dermal fillers, however, patients can expect to lose at least half of what was injected within 3-6 months. The remaining fat that stays is considered to be permanent, however the patient will continue to slowly lose some of it as part of the normal aging process. Repeat injections may be necessary to maintain results.

Am I a good candidate for fat injections?

You are good candidate for fat injections if you have areas of volume loss or folds that you want to smooth and plump up. Fat can also be used to volumize the lips. Fat is commonly placed in the lips, nasolabial folds, under the eyes, cheeks, temples, and buttocks.
