As we age, our faces begin to show the effects of gravity, sun exposure and years of facial muscle movement, such as smiling, chewing and squinting. The underlying tissues that keep our skin looking youthful and plumped up begin to break down, often leaving laugh lines, smile lines, crow’s feet or facial creases over the areas where this muscle movement occurs.

Sculptra is a poly-L-lactic acid, a biodegradable and biocompatible material used to lift, volumize, and contour areas of the face. It stimulates collagen production like no other product on the market can do, and is highly recommended for all post face lift patients and patients who are just looking to replace the lost of volume that occurs with natural aging. Sculptra takes about 6-8 weeks to work, and results can last up to two years.

Am I a good candidate for Sculptra?

You are good candidate for Sculptra if you have areas of volume loss you would like to restore. Sculptra can essentially be placed anywhere on the face, with a few exceptions such as under eyes and lips.
Your personal consultation

During the consultation, you will be asked about the results you expect to achieve from
Sculptra. This will help us to understand your expectations and determine whether they can be realistically achieved.

How will I be evaluated for Sculptra?

Our nurse or doctor will examine the areas of concern to determine the appropriate product and amount to recommend to you. You should be prepared to discuss your medical history. This will include information about any medical conditions, drug allergies, medical treatments you have received, pregnancies, previous surgeries, and medications that you currently take. It is important for you to provide complete information.

How is Sculptra performed?

You will be assessed by our nurse or doctor for the amount of Sculptra needed. Sculptra is typically mixed 2 days prior to your appointment. Sculptra is injected with a tiny needle, and discomfort is minimal. Most people require at least 3 vials. Treatments are spaced 6 weeks apart.

How do I prepare for my Sculptra treatment?

Avoid blood thinners such as aspirin and Advil for two weeks prior to your appointment. Arrive your appointment with your face freshly cleaned.

Sculptra – How will I look or feel initially?

Most patients return to work immediately after treatment. You may notice some swelling, this will subside over the next 2-3 days. Ice packs applied to the treated area will help decrease swelling. As with any injection, there is a possibility that you may bruise.
Your results will become more apparent over the course of the next 6-8 weeks as your body starts to rebuild collagen. Sculptra is an excellent product for patients who want a gradual change.
